Zhou Yu published a paper titled Local temperature extremes have become more extreme across many U.S. weather stations in the journal of Environmental Research Letters. In this paper, we presented a new local perspective to analyze and model extreme values, and highlighted the importance of considering local contexts. With a case study of temperature records, we show the local extremes of temperature measurements become much more extreme than the original measurements. See here for the paper and related codes.
